Gov. Udom Bids Farewell To Professor Etim Essien
….Describes Late Patriarch As An Academic Pillar
Governor Udom Emmanuel today, 2nd July paid his last respect to Professor Etim Okon Essien at Ikot Eko Ibon, Onna Local Government as his remains were committed to mother earth.
Gov. Emmanuel, represented by His Chief Of Staff, Akparawa Ephraim Inyang -Eyen expressed his deepest condolence to the family and described the Late Patriach as a man of deep sense and one who was stern in character which led to the many laurels he received in his life time.
“Prof. Essien was a towering figure in the academic community and also one who had in the cause of his career as an academic nurture a generation of Nigerians that are adding value to their respective communities, “he added.
Akparawa Inyang-Eyen went on to expressed his gratitude to the Late academician for the kindness he meted on him some many years ago.
” I cannot forget easily how Professor offered me full scholarship to study at Cambridge many years ago, his memory forever will remain golden in my heart,” He said.
He further prayed God to give the family the fortitude to bear the loss and also the grace for them walk in the footprints of the Late Patriarch in the service of humanity.
