Akwa Ibom State Executive Council Enlarged Meeting held on Friday, September 10, 2021.

The enlarged EXCO meeting commenced at 5pm and was chaired by the Governor, sitting as Chairman-in-Council. The national and state anthems were rendered and the opening prayer worded by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Finance.

The Governor welcomed members to the meeting and reminded of the need to double efforts to deliver government policies and projects in a timely manner as any delay carried additional financial cost.

Presentation of Supplementary Estimates:

HC-Finance presented the supplementary estimates which he said were based on inflation, exchange rate and other financial accidentals. He also noted that natural disasters occurred in the past few months, were not captured in the budget, but require urgent government intervention.

To cater for these, a proposition of 136,504,539,000 (recurrent estimates 39,302,000,000 and capital estimates 97,202,539,000)

The estimates were adopted for forwarding to the state House of Assembly.

The meeting ended at 6pm with a closing prayer offered by HC-Finance.
