AUDA- NEPAD NIGERIA UNVEILS PROGRAMME FOR THE INNOVATIVE STRENGTHENING OF SMALLHOLDER FARMERS CAPABILITIES
…presents award to Governor Udom Emmanuel for his achievements in the agricultural sector
The unveiling ceremony of the Innovative Strengthining of Smallholder Farmers Capabilities Towards Productive Land Restoration Amid COVID- 19 was held in Abuja, Thursday, October 21, at Transcorp Hilton Hotel, Abuja with Akwa Ibom State as one of the pilot states.
In his address, the representative of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and Hon. Minister of Agriculture, Dr. Mohammed Mahmood Abubakar noted that the way to reduce poverty in the country is to support farmers to encourage their level of productivity.
Also in his remarks, the representative of the Governor of Akwa Ibom State and Deputy Governor, Mr. Moses Ekpo MFR who received an award of appreciation for the Governor’s achievements in the Agricultural sector and for supporting Smallholders farmers assured the readiness of Akwa Ibom State for the implementation of the Programme.
Earlier in their remarks, the NC/CEO AUDA- NEPAD Nigeria, Hon. Princess Gloria Akobundu, the CEO AUDA- NEPAD Continental, Dr. Ibrahim Mayaki and Dr. Mahmoud Dhakite of AUDA- NEPAD Continental all reassured the participants of the readiness and commitment of the country for the Programme which according to them will be of huge benefit to farmers across the country.
Also in attendance were Governors across different State of the Federation, the Honourable Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development and Honourable Commissioners from pilot states.
