EXCERPTS FROM THE ENLARGED MEETING OF THE AKWA IBOM STATE EXECUTIVE COUNCIL HELD ON FRIDAY, 22nd OCTOBER, 2021 AT THE EXECUTIVE COUNCIL CHAMBERS OF THE GOVERNOR’S OFFICE
The meeting which was presided over by HE the Governor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel, had in attendance,HE the Deputy Governor, Secretary to the State Government, Chief of Staff, Head of the Civil Service, Honourable Commissioners and Special Adviser. It commenced at 12:30pm with the rendition of the National and State Anthems; the opening prayer was worded by the Auditor General of the State.
OPENING REMARKS
The Governor sitting as Chairman-in-Council welcomed all members to the enlarged EXCO meeting convened to consider the proposed IPSAS Recurrent and Capital Estimates for 2022 fiscal year. He bemoaned the current situation where despite the increase in price of crude oil, the income to the federation account has not improved. He stated that next year may be challenging economically and security wise. He charged all government officials to brace up for the challenges ahead and think out creative ways of providing succour to the masses.
PRESENTATION OF 2022 DRAFT ESTIMATES
The Honourable Commissioner for Finance presented the draft estimates for 2022 which received extensive deliberations on a ministry by ministry basis. Thereafter, the document was adopted for presentation to the House of Assembly by the Governor. The presentation will be done on Monday, 25th October, 2021 by 4pm at the House of Assembly Complex.
The meeting came to a close by a motion moved by HC-Power and Petroleum Development and seconded by HC-Agriculture. The Closing prayer was worded by HC-Finance, bringing the meeting to a close at 3pm.
