PRINCE SAMPSON IDIONG HOSTS JOURNALISTS
• MAKES CASE FOR OBJECTIVE REPORTAGE
The candidate for Oruk Anam State Constituency under the platform of Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP) Prince Sampson Idiong, has called on media practitioners to uphold the ethics of journalism especially objective reportage in order to promote development in the society.

Prince Idiong, stated this on Tuesday, while playing host to Oruk Anam Journalists during a courtesy visit in Uyo.
Prince Sampson, identified with the group and pledged to support them host a programme tagged ‘Oruk Anam Media RoundTable’ which holds on December 10th, 2022 in Oruk Anam Council, emphasizing that
Idiong who acknowledged ‘Oruk Anam Media RoundTable’ as a novel idea that will promote socio-economic activities and the rich cultural heritage of Oruk Anam Local Government Council pointed out that the programme should set the pace of a balance reportage of socio-economic and Socio-Political activities of Oruk Anam.
“You people have done your best as far as the state is concern, but please I want you to use this avenue to caution those who write unverified reports in the name of the media to desist from it as journalism has its ethics. It should not be because one has an android phone he should put out unconfirmed stories forgetting that such causes problems in the society”
He further thanked the convener of the programme Amadie Akpabio for initiating the idea, expressing optimism that the programme will be a vehicle of social engineering and a platform for objective reportage about Oruk Anam people.
The leader of the group, and Secretary, Nigeria Union of Journalists NUJ Akwa Ibom State Council, Comrade Dominic Akpan, noted that the programme will be a platform where Oruk Anam journalists should report and project activities that will promote potentials and engender development of Oruk Anam Local Government.
Comrade Akpan further noted that in line with the theme of the event ‘The Role of Mass Media in the Socio-Political Economy And The Development of Oruk Anam’, the programme will highlight the rich economic deposits of Oruk Anam to the world.
“For us in Oruk Anam it is about time we start to discuss about ourselves, the future of Oruk Anam and also get involved in the progress and development of Oruk Anam, and that thought gave birth to Oruk Anam Media RoundTable Discourse which emphasis will be on promoting and projecting Oruk Anam because we are aware of its abundant economic deposits and resources”.
In his goodwill message, Okuku Fidelis Udoh, thanked Prince Idiong for the warm reception accorded the Oruk Anam Journalists and described Idiong as a compassionate leader who will give Oruk Anam an effective representation at the State House of Assembly.
Mr. Anietie Idok, in a vote of thanks, appreciated Prince Sampson Idiong for receiving Oruk Anam Journalists and also pledging to identify with the programme ‘Oruk Anam Media Round Table’ which will open the Local Government to the rest of the world. He also thanked the convener and other members of the group for their support.
