Ekong Sampson Hails Uyo Book Club Founder, Udeme Nana on Birthday

Senator-elect for Akwa Ibom South, Dr. Ekong Sampson has hailed prominent media scholar and writer, Dr. Udeme Nana on the occasion of his 2023 birthday celebration. Dr. Nana is the founder of the much praised Uyo Book Club, while Dr. Ekong Sampson is Patron of the club. The duo share great passion in the promotion of literacy and reading consciousness in the country.

Outstandingly, Uyo Book Club holds its monthly reading sessions at the William Shakespeare Hall of Watbridge Hotels, Uyo, where Barr. Sampson sits on the Board as an advisor. In a birthday felicitation to the former Media Adviser to former Gov. Victor Attah, the Senator-elect extolled the celebrant for his contribution to deepening the reading culture in not just Akwa Ibom State but Nigeria at large.

Dr. Sampson described Dr. Nana as a ‘great Nigerian and perspective thinker’. His birthday tribute to the club founder read in parts:
‘The book follows you everywhere-visaless and daring. Your innovation and tenacity mark you out as a man of great heights- taller than your physical frame. Together, with others, we work to tell humanity the truer story of reading and life meaning. Happy birthday, writer, critic, speech engineer, organizer, giver, teacher, leader’.

Sampson noted that posterity will forever distinguish Dr. Nana as one who has committed immensely to scholarship. Barr. Sampson, himself also, a writer and journalist as Dr. Nana, prayed for continuous soundness of health in mind and body for the polytechnic don and wished him many happy returns.
