Mkpat Enin Sets Up High Powered Committee To Support Inauguration of Umo Eno, Ekong Sampson, Uwem Imo-ita

Ahead of the inauguration of Pastor Umo Eno as Governor of Akwa Ibom State on May 29, and those of Senator-elect for Akwa Ibom South, Dr. Ekong Sampson and House Member-elect, Uwem Imo-ita, a fortnight later, Mkpat Enin Local Government has constituted a high powered committee to support the tripartite ceremonies. The Elders Forum is the umbrella converge of eminent personalities, movers and leaders of thought in Mkpat Enin drawn from across a wide strata of walks of life.
At a meeting convened by Mkpat Enin Elders Forum, held earlier today at the William Shakespeare Hall, Watbridge Hotels, Uyo, chieftains and stakeholders of the Local Government expressed total support and full cooperation of Mkpat Enin people for the incoming administration of Pastor Umo Eno.




The forum also lauded two of its sons, Dr. Ekong Sampson and Hon. Uwem Imo-ita, pledging to support and work with the duo to succeed in both the National and State Assemblies.
Speaking at the well attended meeting, Chairman of the Forum, Dr. Sidney Udofot said Mkpat Enin Local Government Area was most fortunate to have her in-law, Pastor Umo Eno as the next Governor of the State. The UK trained, renowned medical doctor noted that the local government has no other option than to give the needed support to the incoming Governor. He assured that Mkpat Enin people were one hundred behind Pastor Umo Eno as he takes the reins from May 29.
The forum’s leader subsequently announced the formation of committees to oversee the swearing-in of Pastor Umo Eno, Barr. Sampson and Hon. Imo-ita as Governor, Senator and House Member respectively. Dr. Udofot charged the forum to brace up to shoulder responsibilities and help chart courses that will bring development, unity and togetherness to Mkpat Enin.
In his goodwill message, Senator-elect for Akwa Ibom South, Dr. Ekong Sampson lauded the forum for meeting to compare notes on how to move Mkpat Enin forward. The former State Environment and Petroleum Resources Commissioner said such meetings were not only timely but should be more regular, as it was the only way the local government can build cohesion and pursue collective goals and aspirations.

Dr. Sampson, also, a former two term Lawmaker for Mkpat Enin intimated on his readiness to work with the elders Forum to attract meaning development to the Local Government.
In their separate remarks, speakers including the Chapter Chairman of PDP Mkpat Enin, Rt Hon. Anietie Sunday, President, Eket Senatorial District Women Forum, Mrs Idara Ephraim Akpan, Secretary of the forum, Hon. Nkereuwem James, Secretary of PDP Campaigns in Mkpat Enin, Hon. Innocent Tom, aide to the Governor, Hon. Joe Akpan suggested and offered various insights on how to move the forum forward and by extension, the Local Government Area.
The meeting equally had in attendance, some of whom also spoke, Vice Chairman of Mkpat Enin Local Government Council, Hon. Mercy Bassey, former Chairman of Council and PDP State Officer, Hon. Mfon Nkanteen, former CMD, University of Uyo Teaching Hospital, Prof. Etete Peters, Leader of the Mkpat Enin Legislative Council, Hon. Ebong Akpan.
Others were the Director-General of Campaigns in Mkpat Enin, Rev. Obot Ekanem and wife, Dr. Edo Obot Ekanem, a Senatorial aspirant in the just concluded election and MD of Madelyn Group, Barr. Ben Udowa, former PDP Chapter Chairman, Chief Friday Ayara, Convener of Mkpat Enin Unity Network, Dr. Friday Ufot Akpabio, Ward Leader of Ukpum Minya Ward IV, Hon. Aniedi Ekanem, Youth Council Chairman, Mkpat Enin, Rt Hon. Emem Alex, Gov’s Aide, Johnson Attah, among others.
Meanwhile, the Committees set are expected to submit their initial reports when the forum meets next week Tuesday.
