NATCOM DG CLEARS AIR ON SUSPENSION OF OTUNBA ADEJARE.

…reaffirm support in tackling insecurity collaboratively with other security agencies in Nigeria.

Following recent speculations on the media community, the Director General, National Commission for the proliferation of arms (NATCOM), Dr. Baba Mohammed has analysed instances leading to the suspension of the commission’s director for special duties, Otumba Adejare Adegbenro.

According to Dr. Baba Mohammed, Otumba Adejara was declared wanted by the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) over alleged criminal breach of trust, amongst other offenses and financial misconduct. Hence, the need to be exonerated.

This he made known to news men on Saturday, during a press briefing at the commission’s headquarters, Abuja.

Speaking, the Director General said the commission will continue to remain focus in discharging duties, tasking members of staff to double efforts in order to acquire desired goal.

“When the term security is pronounce, it’s coin basically to the safety of humanity and properties in the nation. When there’s conflict between your individual interest and that of organisation, try as much as you can to respect that of the organization because many are looking up to that organization. You cannot play with snake in your armpit, else it bits you at anytime. In other to avoid such occurrence, you take necessary measures to curb”.

“The anti-graft agency disclosed that Adegbenro was wanted for obtaining money under false pretense, criminal breach of trust and issuance of Dud Cheque. As an administrative due process harbinger, I said it’s nice and proper for Otunba Adejare to face, clear and exonerate himself of all charges before coming to the office. He needed to go on suspension”.

“Otumba Adegbenro Adejare is suspended from office indefinitely pending the outcome of an independent committee of inquiry as may be set up by the commission”. Dr. Baba concluded.

Dr. Mohammed noted that NATCOM is a law abiding organization with zero tolerance for criminal conduct of all sorts and that posture it will continue to uphold.

He further reaffirmed his commitment to sustaining mutual relationship between the commission and other security departments/ agencies to achieve a safer nation.

In their commendations, the Director for training, Amb. Shadrach Gbamiyi and the Internal Auditor, expressed satisfaction over Dr. Mohammed’s tireless zeal in taking the commission to a greater height, assured they will work together until the bill is assented by Mr. President.

Recall that the commission recently passed vote of confidence on the Director General, Dr. Baba Mohammed over his qualitative leadership.

According to a communique jointly signed on Thursday in Abuja by the zonal, national, and state coordinators, all staff and members of NATCOM after critical assessment of his leadership capacity and his firm belief in due process and rule of law has no choice but to pass a vote of confidence on him to continue his good work as the Director General (DG) .

Meanwhile, the National Commission for the proliferation of arms, has appealed to critical stakeholders and the general public to support and cooperate for better resolved.
