Governor of Adamawa state, Hon Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, has expressed the hope that the House of Representatives investigation into the alleged abuse of 2.3 trillion naira generated as tertiary education tax by TETFUND will help reposition tertiary education in the country.
He also stressed that such oversight by the Green Chamber will help strengthen education institutions in Adamawa state, “put them on their feet and make them do what is expected of them.”

Governor Fintiri was speaking when he received the House of Representatives ad-hoc committee investigating the alleged abuse of 2.3 trillion naira generated as tertiary education tax by TETFUND, led by the member representing Ukanafun/Oruk Anam Federal Constituency, Rep Unyime Idem, at the governor’s office in Yola.

In the words of the Adamawa governor, “Education must be our first priority as that is the surest way of safeguarding our future and that of our children.
“Yes we have benefited from TETFUND. I must confess that TETFUND has done wonders for our schools. If you go to our Federal University in Yola, you will think without TETFUND, where would this school be. Almost all the buildings, roads are done by TETFUND.”

On his part, the leader of the delegation and member representing Ukanafun/Oruk Anam Federal Constituency, Rep Unyime Idem, applauded Governor Fintiri for the peaceful ambience witnessed in the state as well as his achievements within his time as governor of the state.

Idem intimated that Adamawa state benefitted about 40 billion naira from TETFUND, assuring that the committee will be thorough and transparent in its duty.

“We will as part of our duty in the state, assess the state of infrastructure in the schools and would make appropriate recommendations for help, where necessary”, he said.
