The Katsina state governor, Dr Umar Dikko Radda, has welcomed the House of Representatives ad-hoc committee investigating the alleged abuse of 2.3 trillion naira generated as tertiary education tax by TETFUND between 2011 to 2023, to his state, with an appeal that it should recommend that those found to have abused the Tertiary Education Trust Fund, TETFUND, be charged and prosecuted in accordance with the law.

This, the governor said, will serve as a deterrent to others who may be nursing such ambition.

Represented by the Deputy governor, Faruk Lawal, the governor noted that the committee’s investigation will also help reposition the education sector in the state, given his administration’s interest in the sector.

“Why I say your assignment is very important and crucial is because of the importance attached to education in Katsina state. It is our priority area asides the issue of insecurity.”

“So I want to appeal to you, when you do your findings, if there are leakages, people should be compelled to come and do the right thing.”

“This assignment is very important to us and timely because when we look at the decay in education, the kind of intervention we’ve had from TETFUND and other agencies has helped in fixing infrastructure decay and capacity building of the personnel.”

“So I think this move will not only benefit the state but the country. So your findings should also be made to serve as a deterrent to others so that whatever we do in life, we should be accountable.”
