JIGAWA GOV NAMADI RECEIVES REPS INVESTIGATION COMMITTEE, CHARGES THEM TO UNRAVEL ABUSERS OF TETFUND

Rep. Idem addressing Gigawa State Governor.

Jigawa state governor, Umar Namadi, has expressed confidence in the ability of the House of Representatives ad-hoc committee investigating the alleged abuse of 2.3 trillion naira generated as tertiary education tax by the Tertiary Education Trust Fund, TETFUND, to do a thorough job.

Governor Namadi made the remark when he received the House delegation, led by the member representing Ukanafun/Oruk Anam Federal Constituency, Rep Unyime Idem, who paid him a courtesy visit at the Jigawa State government house, Dutse.

Represented by his Chief of Staff, Senator Mustapha Makama Kiyawa, the Governor urged the committee to “unravel the mystery surrounding the application of the funds”, adding that “once there is an effective and efficient oversight function, the executive arm of government and the implementing agencies will be on their toes.”

He advocated “a mobile legislature that will not only be stationed in the parliament, but will always be out checking and cross-checking implementation of the budget by the executive.”

Making his remark, leader of the delegation, Rep Unyime Idem, commended the state governor for ensuring a clean, organized and secure state, describing him as “one cherished by Nigerians.”

He also intimated the governor of the reason for the visit to the state, assuring him of the committee’s transparency in the discharge of its national duty.

Idem and his team later met with heads of institutions in Jigawa state before embarking on a tour round the Federal University Dutse, Sule Lamido University Laffin-Hausa, Federal University of Technology, Nabura, Hussani Adamu Federal Polytechnic, Kazure, Jigawa State Polytechnic, Dutse, Binyaminu Usman Polytechnic, Hadejia, Jigawa State College of Education, Gumel and Jigawa State College of Education and Legal Studies, Rigim.
