HOW REP IDEM OFFERED SELF AS PROTOTYPE IN HIS CONSTITUENCY, THE STATE AND NATION.
Series I.
As though Richard M. Nixon foresaw Rt. Hon. Unyime Idem’s antecedents when this wonderful quote was dropped; Idealism without pragmatism is impotent. Pragmatism without idealism is meaningless. The key to effective leadership is pragmatic idealism.

Such has been the philosophy of the people’s representative since he took over the mandate to represent Ukanafun/Oruk Anam federal constituency in the National Assembly.
Four years and some months ago when Rep. Unyime Idem transited from the Telecommunications Sector to Politics, people had reservations on what the outcome of his political journey will be, many had wondered what he had to offer with little or no knowledge of Nigerian Politics.
These thoughts brought confusions in the heart of many to which aspirant will exercise mandate of the electorates without bias, timidity and fearfulness, leading to divisions amongst the electorates.
Being a first timer with the political will and passion to salvage his people, he accepted what could be termed Pre/Post election brouhaha and never gave up.
Categorically, it could be concluded that the mandate was sluggishly allotted him by the electorates which got him sworn as first timer at the National Assembly.

And the shocking story surfaces when Rep Idem’s campaign promises were fulfilled within 100 days in office, schools were renovated with newly constructed classroom blocks, ICT centres were built, fully funded and donated, countless scholarship were awarded, the depressed, vulnerable and homeless had their prayers fulfilled.
What electorates/constituents never encountered in the history of National Politics took precedence, bursary paid to students, internal roads with bridges were constructed, a different form of empowerment visited which got every household empowered in sequence and still counting.
Rt. Hon. Unyime Idem fulfilled the essence of democracy, bringing governance closer to the people.
