Senator Ekong Sampson Congratulates Super Eagles on Victory over South Africa, Charges Team to Bring Trophy Home

Senator Ekong Sampson, representing Akwa Ibom South in the Senate, has congratulated the Super Eagles of Nigeria on their victory over South Africa and for making it to the finals of AFCON 2023.
The Super Eagles of Nigeria edged past Bafana Bafana of South Africa on penalties, after a pulsating 120minutes of regulation and extra time at the Stade de la Paix in Boake. Among the dignitaries cheering on the Eagles at the stadium included Vice President of Nigeria, Senator Kashim Shettima, who led the Nigerian delegation.

Senator Sampson, himself, a former footballer and Sports writer in his earlier years, in a message of felicitation to the Super Eagles, hailed the team for showing resilience and the true Nigerian spirit to overcome their perennial opponents. The Akwa Ibom South Senator charged the team to go on and win the trophy for Nigeria, come Sunday.
Nigeria faces either of Congo Democratic Republic or host, Cote D’Ivoire, in the finals of the 2023 AFCON at the Alassane Ouattara Stadium in Abidjian on February 11, 2024.
