Born, Cassius Marcellus Clay in Louisville, Kentucky on January 17, 1942. This top sportsman has been hailed as the ‘Greatest of all Time’. He won gold in boxing (light heavyweight) category at the 1960 Summer Olympics and turned a pro, later that year.

Some of his most famous fights include ‘Fight of the Century’ against Joe Frazier on March 8, 1971 at the Madison Square Garden, the ‘Thriller in Manila’, still against Frazier, and ‘The Rumble in the Jungle’ against George Foreman, in Kinshasa, Congo, watched by over 60,000 people. He gained huge international fame throughout his active years.

Outside boxing, he equally attained success as a spoken word artist, releasing two studio albums including I Am the Greatest! (1963). Both albums received Grammy Award nominations. He also featured as an actor and writer, releasing two autobiographies. After retiring in 1981, he spent his later life on activism, philanthropy and religion and died in 2016 at 74.

His name – Muhammad Ali; and he is recognized among Watbridge Hotels Hall of Famers. It is this attention to excellence that makes Watbridge Hotels stand out.

A spacious ambience, a super poolside, a first-of-its-kind Guest Library in the hotel industry, shops, spa, saloon, exotic rooms, secured environment, located right in the heart of Uyo opposite the iconic Ibom Hall, all make the top rated hotel ‘A Home Apart’.

It is so fitting that Watbridge Hotels recognizes legends and society.
