200 GRADUANDS OF UNYIME IDEM MID-YEAR SKILLS ACQUISITION SCHEME GET START-UP TOOLS

About 200 people of Ukanafun/Oruk Anam Federal Constituency have graduated from the Unyime Idem skills acquisition and empowerment scheme, and have also been given start-up tools to begin their businesses.

The beneficiaries, which are of the mid-year batch of the scheme, were trained in tailoring, hair-making, barbing, entrepreneurship, among other skills.

Founder of the scheme, member representing Ukanafun/Oruk Anam Federal Constituency, Rep. Unyime Idem, handed the beneficiaries the items at the graduation ceremony, which held at the Unyime Idem Skills Acquisition and empowerment centre, 3 Barracks Road, beside Divisional Police Station, Ukanafun local government area.

Rep. Idem, who was represented by his Special Assistant on Constituency Affairs, Mr. Ediong Charles Essien, charged the beneficiaries to deploy the tools judiciously so they can serve the purpose for which they are meant for.

According to the federal lawmaker, “this gesture is to help you become self-reliant. Take advantage of the skill you’ve learnt and the tools you’ve been given, to become whatever you’ve been dreaming of becoming.”

“As you’ve been trained, please train others who are willing to learn. The aim is to reduce hunger and poverty to the barest minimum. Once you’re good at what you’re doing, you’ll be sought after, notwithstanding your location.”

The beneficiaries, on their part, expressed gratitude to Rep. Idem for instituting the scheme and following through with the trainings and empowerment, and promised to make judicious use of the skills acquired and tools received.

Other sets of trainees are expected to graduate and get their start-up tools before the end of the year.
