….. Charges the church to hold public officials accountable

Member, representing Etinan/ Nsit Ibom/ Nsit Ubium Federal Constituency, Mr Onofiok Luke has charged the church to hold politicians in leadership accountable and preach the raw gospel to them.

Luke stated this at the 135th Annual National Conference, ANC and Special Anniversary Thanksgiving of United Evangelical Church held at National Headquarters in Uyo on Sunday.

Speaking in his capacity as Chairman on the occasion, Luke said the church must be deliberate to get the consciences of the political class to be alive again.

“Preach the gospel not minding if they want to go with the money they brought to church”

“The church should be at the centre of what is happening. The church should be interested in politics. The church should vote”.

“This is a trying time for the church. There has to be a serious rival in the church”, Luke said.

He added that the church needs to rise and raise the banner of Christianity. He tasked the people of his generation to lift the banner of Christ high and prayed that God should lead them in the path of righteousness.

Luke expressing his gratitude to the church for the impact it has made in his life, donated to support the conference and also gave welfare packages to be distributed to the aged and less privileged in the church. According to Luke ; “We have been building cathedrals without building the people in the cathedral”.

The Federal lawmaker pledged to contribute to missions work for the entire calendar year of 2023.

The conference had its theme: “More Great Things of Gladness” drawn from Psalm 126: 1-3.
