AKWA IBOM WILL FARE BETTER WITH PDP GOVERNMENT AT THE CENTRE, GOV EMMANUEL ASSURES

…Pledges to complete Ibekwe-Ikot Akpan Nya-Ikot Nya-Ikot Akata road in 2023.

Governor Udom Emmanuel has assured Akwa Ibom people that the long neglect of the state in the scheme of things and development projects of the federal government will be upturned with the installation of Atiku Abubakar as Nigeria’s President.

The Governor and Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP Campaign Council for the 2023 elections gave the assurance while addressing a mammoth gathering of party faithful in a campaign rally, at Mkpat Enin stadium.

He also acknowledged the importance of the Ibekwe-Ikot Akpan Nya-Ikot Nya-Ikot Akata road and pledged to ensure it is fully constructed before the end of his tenure as Governor.

Governor Emmanuel said his reasons for undertaking the pivotal role in the Atiku Presidential Campaign were his adent loyalty to the Party and his desire to ensure that Akwa Ibom interest is well articulated at the centre, reaffirming his determination to be the voice his people need at the centre.

He therefore solicited massive support for Atiku Abubakar as President, Umo Eno as governor and the Mkpat Enin born Ekong Sampson for the Akwa Ibom South Senatorial seat as well as all the candidates of the PDP in Ikot Abasi Federal Constituency.

Speaking further Governor Emmanuel described the candidacy of Ekong Sampson as an affirmation of the PDP’s adherence to justice and value for quality, while lauding the Akwa Ibom South Elders for their firmness in maintaining the rotation principle in the district.

Despite all the overtures for him to take the senate ticket, the Governor reminded the people that he insisted on aligning with the existing zoning principle and urged everyone to support the senatorial candidate and ignore pretenders who are out to cause confusion in the district.

The wife of the Governor, Mrs Martha Udom Emmanuel, deputy Governor of the State Mr Moses Ekpo, in their goodwill messages commended Mkpat Enin for producing both the wife of the incoming Governor and the Senator for the district, and urged them to consider themselves lucky to be so favoured.

The PDP gubernatorial flag bearer, Pastor Umo Eno, was full of thanks for the endorsements he has enjoyed from Mkpat Enin people, being their inlaw.

He assured them to build on Governor Emmanuel’s investments in the area by creating components that will complete the vast value chain of the coconut industry as well as empower the youths and women with vast agricultural development programmes, ICT enhancement skills and other programmes in the area and assured them that he will remain their good inlaw even as a Governor.

The Senatorial District candidate of the PDP, Dr. Ekong Sampson, said Mkpat Enin was grateful to
the state government for so much attention given to them in terms of projects and appointment. He assured that Mkpat Enin people will express their gratitude with their votes for the PDP come 2023.

Chairman of the PDP in Akwa Ibom State, Elder Aniekan Akpan, presenting the party candidates to the people, recalled that Mkpat Enin has always made the party proud in voting massively for its candidates.

He thanked the party faithful and charged them to do even more in 2023, given the fact that so much has been done for the area in the last 8 years.

One of the highlights of occasion was the symbolic handing over of the baton by the incumbent senator, Akon Eyakenyi to Dr Ekong Sampson to the admiration of everyone present.

SAMPSON IDIONG CONDOLES ORUK ANAM FORMER VICE CHAIRMAN OVER MOTHER’S DEMISE

The PDP candidate for Oruk Anam State Constituency, Prince Sampson Idiong, yesterday, commiserated with a former vice Chairman of Oruk Anam, Rt Hon. Edwin Udofa and family, over the demise of their mother, late Deaconess Nko George Udofa, aged 65.

Accompanied by the Chairman, Oruk Anam LGA, Rt. Hon. Dr Kingsley Frank, Idiong in his condolence message to the family described death as an inevitable end even as he admonished the family to take solace in the legacies of their departed matriarch.

Hear him; “Death is an inevitable end: a path we are all bound to trade someday and somehow as Christ tarries. To some, it comes after a happy old
age and to some like our dear mother, it leaves unbearable pains.”

“Your mother was a devoted Christian, community builder and a dedicated health practitioner, hence there is no doubt that she will be greatly missed.”

“However, death has come to her in fulfilment of God’s time as a transition to eternal glory. But be consoled by her legacies of impactful and exemplary life, hard work and moral integrity which were some of her core values.” He added.

Meanwhile, the remains of the departed Heroine were laid to rest in Ikot Obono, Oruk Anam LGA, after a funeral service conducted by the Apostolic church with prominent dignitaries in attendance.

Pastor Eno made the promise on Tuesday, December 20, 2022, during PDP’s governorship campaign rally held at the council Secretariat grounds, Odot Ikpe.

He also promised to expand the cocoa plantation to encourage the production of Akwa Ibom-made chocolate, encourage commercial agriculture as well as create a central pool for agricultural equipment and set up an agency to manage them for farmers.

While saying that all the promises could only be fulfilled with him as governor of the state from 2023, Pastor Eno urged the people to vote for him as well as other candidates of the party during the soon-to- come elections.

In his remarks, Governor Udom Emmanuel noted that PDP is the only organized party in Nigeria, adding that no other party can rescue Nigeria except the PDP.

EMMANUEL ENOIDEM: THE COURAGE TO WIN FOR PEOPLE AND HISTORY

  • Samuel Ayara

Preparing for who emerges in 2023 to represent Akwa Ibom Northwest Senatorial District never promised a less intriguing outcome, the storm and stir was expected, even in heart-jumping frequencies. Recent events have only affirmed the outright consensus that narrows the search to Abak Federal Constituency where no one in Nigeria’s history, despite their contribution to politics and leadership has ever held sway. A handful in the past gave their luck a shot, with the closest shave recorded when the Late Dr. Ime Umanah in 1998 won the senatorial election but was never to be inaugurated due to the abrupt collapse of the Abacha transition programme.

Barr. Emmanuel Enoidem

Getting past speculative stalemates predicted by doomsday prophets, nothing threatened more spanners in the works than the build up to senatorial primaries of the various political parties. Whether it was PDP, APC, YPP or NNPP, every party considered the need to address the sensitivity of the marginalization a key component of the district suffered; reason every party burrowed through Abak Federal Constituency for a representative that will in addition to sentiments of marginalization answer the credibility and capacity question

Like vices, practicing virtue in a society evil is pervasive could be viewed an anomaly and stoutly resisted by those who profit from evil. How further our society looks away from correcting the wrongs and ills of old, has become an achilles heel we may not escape, especially now that people who should know are reclining to the patronage of willful ignorance. Posterity had long reported for duty to ensure no effort misses its rightful place and mention, even while the political-ostrich game squares up with every strand of sanity. This explains why the most visible in the Abak federal constituency’s 1998 Senatorial quest has become the most prefferred for the 2023 contest.

The call of experience dates back to biblical days, when the choice of replacement for Judas Ischariot rested on Mathias who having lived through Jesus’ times, teachings and subsequent crucufixion was considered to have known enough to carry on as a disciple in the post ascension days. Barr. Emmanuel Enoidem’s preference for the Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District seat owes so much to selflessness, experience and ability to build the future with a good knowledge of the past, having as Secretary of Campaigns midwifed the Senatorial victory of Dr. Ime Umanah in 1998. No sane society discards such depth of experience and understanding of how things work, especially as the district still graples with issues that since then have remained relevant and unresolved.

Mahmud crowd at the ward tour

Values that pass Enoidem as best for the 2023 race is premised on his conviction to personally reach out to every part of the district in a campaign that has been considered most involving and issues-based in the history of the district’s political engagement. The ambitiousness of visiting all 108 ward of the district is more of a fact finding and appraisal of the real situation in our communities and hamlets than it is to show political sagacity. Through these visits, he does not only interact with the people but probes their challenges, some of which are already too visible to go unnoticed. Adroit followers of the tours at the various stopovers will admire Enoidem’s grasp of the issues, regardless of twists.

Prioritizing agriculture, commerce, arts and craft, peace building, provision of social amenities and infrastructure, Barr. Emmanuel Enoidem in better appreciating the largely rural district, which wields enormous potentials to massively revolutionize Akwa Ibom’s socioeconomic leap has opened the floodgates of collaborative leadership. Political engagements that were hitherto considered passive have been given the wings to take on flights that are definitive of the current era’s demand in leadership. If he forgets everything, it will be impossible to forget the concerns of the over 600 constituents who are on queue to address the ward campaigns. This is a feat no contestant to the district’s plum job has ever braved, and speaks volume of the expected deliverables from his senatorial outing.

With roundly and fitted qualified indigenes lining out to succeed the Obot Akara born entrepreneur, Engr. Chris Ekpenyong who currently holds sway in the red chambers of the national assembly. There is more than a few reasons to believe that Enoidem is arriving with a mind and attitude that breathes preparedness; with rolled up sleeves he can be safely described as already dotting on the ultimate goal. He comes brandishing a blueprint that signals it is no longer uhuru for people who have nothing to offer, and more than these offerings is sensitive to where the people stand on matters bordering on development and strength of character, which will most likely not escape the test of fire in conversations and responses as we inch towards the elections.

Historically, this is a district that has never missed the storm of every political cycle and prides in the dynamism of its people as a bunch that do not take the back seat on matters of leadership. From the Late Chief Raymond Umoh, to the present, all of the district’s ten Senators soared through storm to emerge, explaining why this is one of the 109 districts Nigeria often waits to see who emerges. Thankfully never disappointing when it matters most, the walkways, committee rooms and chambers of the Senate is no stranger to the courage and patriotism representatives from this district bring to national conversations, except that with Enoidem will come visible results and imprints, judging from his resolve to go every length of the way mindful of the people.

Attempts to evade the issues in the coming race has nonetheless pushed a number of pretenders into sensationalizing faulty narratives, but like an idea whose time has come, 2023 is already too late and hot for them to deal. Attempting a studied count of how much they have brightened our space would as much as the infamy they have caused us suffice. Without stirring the hornets, Enoidem in character and ability to deliver on mandate holds the aces in a comparative review of the impact they all have made in their public service stints. While Enoidem in his over two decades public service life has built such goodwill of growing with men and friends, others have effortlessly typified the refrain that “a friend in government is a friend lost”.

The Grace Hospital in Etim Ekpo, where for almost ten years patients are treated free of charge is a towering testament of deep seated humanity, that has not only provided socur to hundreds of families but also seen to productive engagements of medical professionals and critical experts that surge the facility at intervals for specialized services. This is beyond phenomenal in a society public servants rely on political correctness to lift a muscle in advancement of gestures that do not serve the elites.

In education, the award of full scholarship to an indigene of Ika LGA, during a recent tour of wards is an affirmation of his commitment to expanding access to quality education for his people. For an ex-university teacher, nothing than the need to liberate the mind of the people to more opportunities could have been more instructive. More than the Ika isolated case and innumerable scores on his educational support roll, the first of its kind constitution of a students directorate in his campaign council, which ahead of other directorates has already taken delivery of an eighteen seater bus to aide students mobility, tells more tale. This is a gesture students leaders in the district consider most novel, but not surprising, coming from a man they call their own.

Going beyong the trance of expecting positive outcomes by pushing validations for outright lies, some senatorial prospects who for fear of how much the people already know are relying on campaigns by proxy, and not letting a moment slide without concocted tales of why Abak federal constituency should again be denied an opportunity to the red chambers. How more can one explain the contraption that a certain usurper has returned to gaslight same people he abandoned for golden fleece, claiming he is contesting the 2023 senatorial seat to complete an imaginary eight years people of the district agreed for him in 2015? A misadventure that queries what honour means to some men.

Regardless of what side of the divide one belongs, Enoidem is a soul every team desires, as there is hardly any contestant in the last two decades in the state that does not seek to enroll his support for their aspiration. For whatever its worth this explains why he is on the receiving end of the vilest of political attacks and blackmail. Like the day, you can tell when he is in your support, and this is an attribute that attempts to redefine politics from a game of deceit and double speak. Not many could have successfully championed the Maintain Peace Movement at the time political interests got so heightened, but the storm he weathered to the subsequent emergence of Pst. Umo Eno as candidate of his party at a time pundits predicted an implosion remains a class act only Enoidem is capable of.

Coming quite knowledgeable and conscious of the issues and exhibiting capacity to avail solutions, Enoidem in the tenth Senate of the federal republic will lead the vanguard for the finest strand of democracy, veiled in such rare courage and optimism that allows for progress; the kind that has permeated every turf his feet has trod in public service. More than the next election, the countdown for people of Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District is how close we have come to the future where people with proven record of service are spotlighted in our society’s fixation in the belief that their decisions and reactions will never be informed by fear and the need to cover up sleep-haunting opprobrium.

Standing up, tall and about, Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District with the Etim Ekpo born legal luminary has earned itself a perfect deal as the rest of Nigeria awaits the emergence of men and leaders who are worth their salt, not retreating nor capitulating when it matters most. It is a fine time to look forward to leadership that dares the odds in truth and courage to win for both history and the people; just like Emmanuel Enoidem who has found a forte in recreating leadership the way the people wish to be led.

Ikot Ekpene Senate: Enoidem is the most competent, experienced candidate for 2023– A’Ibom Deputy Gov

1-minute silence held in honor of Late Ime Umanah in Otoro Ward 2

The PDP Candidate for Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District, Barr Emmanuel Enoidem, is the most qualified and competent candidate from Abak federal Constituency to represent the Senatorial District as far as the 2023 Senatorial election is concerned, Akwa Ibom State Deputy Governor, His Excellency, Mr. Moses Ekpo, MFR, has declared.

Speaking on Wednesday during a Consultation Visit to the Paramount Ruler of Abak LGA, His Royal Majesty, Okuku Saviour Sylvester Udofia, JP, the Deputy Governor who accompanied the PDP Senatorial candidate, Barr. Emmanuel Enoidem on the visit, admonished the Abak Traditional Rulers Council to lead the campaign for justice, equity and fairness by ensuring that the collective decision of the political, traditional, and religious institutions, all of whom have unanimously endorsed the decision for Abak federal Constituency to produce the next Senator for the Senatorial District is adhered to by their subjects.

According to Mr. Ekpo, as vanguards of the culture and tradition of the Abak people, the Traditional institution owes the younger generation the sacred duty of being torchbearers of truth, integrity, uprightness, decorum, civility, and character.

He noted that in life and politics, time and season are two natural elements no man can alter or swim against the tide, submitting that 2023 is the divinely ordained time for Abak federal Constituency and Barr. Enoidem to aspire, contest, and effortlessly win the Akwa Ibom North West Senatorial election, due to his pedigree, experience, loyalty to the party, dedication, and selfless service to humanity.

The Deputy Governor stated that having supported numerous candidates from 1999 till date to contest and win the presidential, gubernatorial, Senatorial, House of Representatives, and Assembly elections, the time has come for Barr. Enoidem to reap from the seed and goodwill he has planted for the past 23 years of PDP, submitting that his ability, capacity, and competence to represent the Senatorial District effectively and efficiently is never in doubt.

He called on Abak people to support Governor Udom Emmanuel’s Completion Agenda by standing firm with the 2023 Governorship aspiration of Pastor Umo Eno, assuring them that besides the numerous infrastructural development the PDP government has attracted to Abak, the Umo Eno incoming administration is poised to accelerate the socio-economic development of Abak for the benefit of the people.

Addressing the Royal Fathers, the PDP Senatorial candidate, Barr. Emmanuel Enoidem said his aspiration apart from righting the wrong of the past 62 years of marginalization that Abak federal Constituency has suffered, his aspiration is a further confirmation that Abak federal Constituency, parades an array of eminently qualified Sons and Daughters who have the competence, character, and capacity to represent the Senatorial District and provide people-centered representation to the people.

He called on the Royal Fathers in Abak LGA to champion the cause of justice and provide purposeful leadership for the younger generation to emulate by insisting on the strict adherence to the collective decision of the Senatorial District of ensuring that the 2023 Senatorial race goes to Abak federal Constituency to sustain and maintain the prevailing peace, unity, and togetherness of the Senatorial District.

According to Barr Enoidem, the PDP remains the only party that has brought about a conscious, systematic, and sustained growth and development to Abak and Akwa Ibom State, assuring that a vote for the PDP is a vote for peace, stability, prosperity, development, and entrepreneurship.

The Senatorial hopeful called on Abak people to vote en-masse for Alhaji Atiku Abubakar for President, Pastor Umo Eno for Governor, himself for Senator, Hon. Aniekan Umanah for House of Representatives, and Hon Udeme Otong for Abak State Constituency, assuring that with the vote and solidarity of the people, Abak will never remain the same again.

At Otoro Ward 2, Barr Enoidem who urged all present to observe a minute silence in honor of the Late Ime Umanah who was an illustrious son of the Ward, said he is a long-standing friend of Otoro, having served as Secretary General of Ime Umanah Senatorial Campaign Organization in 1998 that was won by Ime Umanah but regretted that the dream of Abak federal Constituency producing a Senator through Ime Umanah did not see the light of the day following the death of the then Head of State, Gen Sani Abacha in 1998.

He assured that God has decided to use him to achieve the unfulfilled dream of the Late Ime Umanah, and Abak Federal Constituency, promising to ensure that Otoro Ward 2 and Abak LGA benefit from whatever development project that would have been realized if the 1998 Senatorial ambition of their Son was not truncated.

On his part, the Director General, Umo Eno Campaign Organization, His Excellency, Amb Assam Assam, SAN, said the only Senatorial candidate and party the generality of Akwa Ibom people know as far as the 2023 Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District election is concerned is Barr. Emmanuel Enoidem and the PDP.

He noted that both Barr. Enoidem and the incoming Governor, Pastor Umo Eno have an unbroken bond and relationship that will be beneficial to the Senatorial District and reiterated the determination of Pastor Umo Eno to collaborate with Barr. Enoidem, and other stakeholders from Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District to develop the area and change the fortunes of the people for good.

At Otoro Ward 2, Amb. Assam recalled his long-standing friendship with Otoro Ward 2 in general and Ikot Obioko in particular, stating that the Late Ime Umanah was the one who paid his final year school fees as an undergraduate, stating that if the late Imesco was alive, he would have supported the clamour for Abak federal Constituency to produce the next Senator for Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District, and called on all to vote for the PDP and Barr Emmanuel Enoidem as a mark of honour to him.

Wednesday’s Campaign tour to Otoro Ward 3, Otoro Ward 1, Otoro Ward 2, and Abak Urban Ward 1 in Abak LGA, was Day 4 of the 2023 Senatorial Ward Tour ahead of the February 25, 2023, Presidential and National Assembly election.
